WAEREBO Trekking and Village Stay

Waerebo is the one of very few complete traditional villages on Flores Island. Nestled high up on the ancient volcano crater in a remote area of Flores Island, Warebo keeps the pure Manggarai ethnic's cultural value alive. The nearest village is about 3 - 4 hours walk away, to reach the village on foot is the only option.

 

The trek to Waerebo is mostly a constant climb from the altitude of 480 meter to 1.110 meter above sea level. The trail leads you to walk into the pristine forest and creeks where you can enjoy the deep in the nature water pool before continue trekking.

  • Start/ End: Labuanbajo

  • Departure: Daily

  • Minimum participant/s: 1 person

  • Best visit Period: March to Mid of November

  • Good to visit: last weeks of November till Mid of December

  • Challenging visit period: Half end of December to February, it is the peak of rainy season in the area

Summary of the visit program

Day 1 Early morning depart from Labuanbajo, drive eastward toward Ruteng to  reach a place where the Lingko - the typical rice fields are located. Lunch en route. overnight in Denge

 

Day 2 Trek to Waerebo and stay overnight in the village, to back to nature: get deep in nature water pool and bathing in the nature's shower in Warebo.

 

Day 3 Return to Labuanbajo or continue your Flores Island discovery eastwards

 

How to get there:

  • Fly from you country to either Denpasar/ Bali or Jakarta

  • Then Fly from Bali or Jakarta to Labuanbajo on Flores Island then drive eastward to reach Denge, the starting point for your Waerebo Trekking.
