Explore Tangkoko and Minahasa Highlands

 

Manado is better known for its Bunaken - the National Marine Park. It is yours to enjoy. Your visit to the destination will be more enriched by exploring beyond Bunaken. The 4 days visit will bring you to the nature beauty of North Sulawesi with soaring volcanoes, crater lakes and the charming Minahasa people with its culture and daily life. The visit to Tangkoko Nature Reserve is included in the program, where you will take an easy trek into the jungle to encounter endemic fauna of Sulawesi such as Tarsier or Tarsius Spectrum, black macaque - Macaca Nigra, Sulawesi hornbill and many more.

SUMARY OF VISIT PROGRAM

 

Itinerary in briefDay 1: Arrive in Manado, transfer to a hotel in Tomohon in the Minahasa Highlands

 

Day 2: Sightseeing in the Minahasa highlands , early morning trek up to Mount Mahawu for the panoramic view and the crater of Mount Mahawu, down to Tomohon Market (best to be visited on Saturday or a day prior to Christmas and Easter). Visit crater lake and hotsprings, traditional house builder workshop, eartheware village etc.

 

Day 3: Drive to Tangkoko through the sceanic mountain view and the highland laek of Tondano and the palce where the ancient Minahasa sarcophaguses are located. Trek to the jungle of Tangkoko for the wildlife afternoon activities especially the tarsiers. overnight at the lodg.

 

Day 4: Early morning trek to the jungle to witness the tarsiers return to the den and the jungle life in the morning. There is chance to spot Maccaca Nigra - the bendemic black monkey of Sulawesi and various birds. Then  transfer to the airport or harbour for the next destination.

 

How to get to Tangkoko

 

  • There are weekly  direct flight Singapore - Manado by Silk Ar

  • or you can fly to Jakarta, Denpasar/Bali or Makassar and then fly to Manado

  • Then drive to Tangkoko according to the program
